Scenario 1 Scenario 1: Crossroads

The background for this campaign was the British withdrawl from France, through Dunkirque in Belgium. In real life, the British managed to withdraw 300,000 troops in a heroic effort.

In this scenario 2 squads of German infantry (part of a damaged platoon) hack through British defenses and reach the roads at Beavais, leading to northern France, were British defenders are experienced but small in quantity.
Can they hold?

The Battle:
The German squads entered through the left edge into the forest. They had barely moved 20 meters when a detachment of the platoon HQ, led by 2nd lieutenant Nigel Short ambushed them from point blank with grenades and SMG fire, causing heavy casualties. But the Germans regrouped and overpowered the determined Brits. A grenade killed Short, causing the group to scatter. Only 1 soldier escaped.
The Germans pressed forward and rushed out of the woods quite carelessly. Suddenly, a storm of machine gun fire was hailed down on them from the hill 100 meters away. Suffering heavy casualties, the Germans scrambled for cover, while maneuvering a sniper team into position to pick off the gunners. The timing was crucial... Bracing his Kar98k (with scope), the sniper took careful aim until he was sure of a hit. He pressed the trigger... And the slug slammed into the sandbags, with no other effect. Why did he miss? We don't know. Possibly because a small furry animal that was in the vicinity distracted him. Anyway, as he was loading for another shot, a burst of fire rang out, and he fell, dead. At this point the Germans retreated.
