Foamcore house building Foamcore house building techniques
Materials:
foamcore
Metal ruler and sharp knife
Cereal box cardboard for the roofs (card)
PVA glue
First, mark the measurements with a pencil on the foamcore, then cut along the lines.
Cutting tecnique: Cut the foamcore using a sharp knife and a metal ruler: Hold the ruler onto the wall line and cut with the knife in one long, deep stroke. Shave off excess.
Repeat until you've cut all the walls.
Next glue the walls together. I use an ingenious technique I found on a the wonderful colonial wargaming site of Major General: zeitcom.com/majgen/index.html When your walls are ready, it's time to make the roof:
We make our roofs out of card, like that of cereal boxes. Cut out 2 identical rectangles in the desired size to form the triangular roof:

If you want a shingled roof, cut shingles out of lengths of card sniped with scissors to create shingles:
When you've finished multiple rows, glue them overlapping eachother on the rectangls and hold them with clothspins until they dry. After you finish the roof, either glue it onto the house or onto independent triangles of foamcore so that it will be removable.
