Materials:
Toothpicks
Lichen
DAS modelling clay
corrugated cardboard for bases

1. Begin by cutting the sharp edges off the toothpicks. Do this to as many toothpicks as you want trees.
2. Take the cardboard and cut little "X's" in it with a hobby knife. These will act as placement holes (X's) for the trees.
3. Coat the toothpicks with DAS, but leave some of the top (1cm). Now put glue on the x and stick the toothpick in it.
4. When the tree is sturdy and the glue dries, start painting the trunks with a wash of brown, then coat with a darker brown (not a wash)
5. When the trunks are ready, put some glue on the top of the toothpick (the exposed part), and put a clump of lichen on it, in the desired color. That's all, you should be able to make 15 good sized bases (with 6 trees each) in 3 hours.
