Scenario 1 of Op: Stiletto- Shifting Tide (partII)
Part II
The mission was played on two table set ups- the first was a set up trap by the 2nd LOT- an Owens was deployed to a wooded area plus some turrets and a wall to channel the ELH into the trap, on the second table
set up. The Owens took some long range potshots at the ELH Dasher and started disengaging. Although ELH forces smelled a trap, they thought it was in the first sector. So they
cautiously advanced through the woods, and finding no ambush, pursued the Owens into the 2nd sector were the warehouse was. They continued chasing the Owens until the ELH's Lance Commander realized he overextended himself. Then he made the mistake- he sent the Nova Cat unassisted into the left hand woods. The Nova Cat moved 2" into the thick, dense heavy woods of Milenar, smack into the LOT's 100 ton Daishi (that was a hidden unit in scenario terms). Now a Daishi's alpha strike (actually almost-alpha strike) is
not a nice thing to weather. The Nova Cat had a bit of luck and although being blasted with 80+ damage, it was spread out and the only critical hit was a Double heat sink. Anyway, the Mechwarrior didn't manage to keep the Cat on it's feet to the relief of Dave Canis, the Daishi pilot, since 2 ER PPCs and 3 ER Large Lasers are not nice either. Unluckily for Canis, the Mad Cat moved in to cover for the Nova Cat and pelted the Daishi enough to cause critical damage to the mech's left arm, destroying a heat sink.
The 100 ton Daishi D disengaged, much to the suprise of the ELH forces, on jump jets, out of the heavy woods and away from the dangerous Mad Cat.
On the right side of the battlefield, the until now hidden Thor delivered supporting fire on the 90 ton Viking to distract it away from the withdrawing Daishi. The Vulture in the center wood did the same, although it missed with both LRM-20s.
