Firefight at the shuttle base Scenario 1: Firefight at the shuttle base

This was our first Battletech campaign, so it's only 2 scenarios. I don't have pictures from the battles but I'll draw maps. The background is simple: Interstellar pirates attempt a daring raid on a badly protected Stiener supply base for some easy loot. First though, they need to gain access to the base through a shuttle line that runs from the employee base on a nearby moon to the base itself. The pirates' objective is to destroy all resistance but try to salvage, and gain access to the landing pad. Secondary objective is the local garrison's warehouse which may contain mechs or salvageable parts.

Pirates' Mechs FedCom Mechs
- Turkina (95T)
- Hatchetman (45T)
- Awesome (80T)
- Thunderbolt (65T)

The battle: The Turkina and the Hatchetman executed a flanking maneuovre to the edge of the town, going undetected. When they entered radar range, the Awesome engaged them from longer range, but lacked the punch needed to really harm the Turkina (this was the Awesome V, not Q). The Thunderbolt meanwhile climbed a hill to get a better firing position. The pirates' Mechs didn't like that one bit and concentrated all their firepower on the Thunderbolt, which was severely damaged from a few lucky hits and almost out of the fight. The Awesome returned fire, damaging the Hatchetman enough to knock it down. While the Hatchetman was being battered, the Turkina soared up and over on it's jump jets, landing comfortably behind the Awesome, which had overextended itself from base too much. The Turkina blasted off the Awesome's rear armor with PPCs and the LBx ACs pentetrated into the delicate internal structure of the 80 ton machine. The LRM ammo was going to blow... Before that though, the Awesome managed a kick at the Hatchetman's left leg, effectivly knocking it off and causing the 45 ton mech to fall again.
So the battle ended, a crushing defeat for the FedCom garrison. Not that it was their fault really, because, as experienced players may know, A Turkina and Hatchetman against a Thunderbolt and Awesome aren't exactly equal forces- While tonnage is in favor of the FedCom, a Turkina is worth more in point value than the Thunderbolt and Awesome put together! So the GM made a mistake and kind of ruined the scenario, or maybe even campaign, as you'll see in Battle 2...
